Two years ago, she was the sole survivor of a massacre in the Alaskan wilderness. She escaped the monster, but she never escaped the memory. Now, the nightmare has followed her home.

When a gruesome, ritualistic killing shatters her fragile peace, she knows the vengeful offspring of the creature she fought has tracked her down. The authorities see a bizarre animal attack; she sees a declaration of war. The time for running is over. The time for hiding is past.

To end the terror that has haunted her for years, the survivor must become something else entirely. She must become a predator. Forging her trauma into a weapon, she prepares for a final, brutal hunt in the deep woods. But this time, she is not fighting for survival. She is fighting for revenge.

In a desperate battle against a creature of impossible strength and cunning intelligence, she will prove that the most dangerous thing in the wilderness is not the monster, but the woman who has nothing left to lose.

Ah, if she could put a bullet into the dirt in front of the creature’s feet, why didn’t she just put a bullet into it? If she runs at the wounded monster so close it rips her sleeve w one swipe why didn’t she use the sophisticated rifle she was carrying and shoot a few wild shots at it? - who knows sounds like she could easily hit it again. The monster is slowly squirming through a heavy barred door in a gov building and again she doesn’t use the rifle - or her hand gun? She only shots two bullets in the whole freaking book!! She just doesn’t have the actions showing the aggression of a special hunter - plus after all that “Now it’s War” training she had? She’s not being deadly at every chance. Made me moan “ARRGH!” Too many times.
