After Paul Stutzman finished hiking the Appalachian Trail, he found himself longing for another challenge, another adventure. Trading his hiking boots for a bicycle, Paul set off to discover more of America. Starting at Neah Bay, Washington, and ending at Key West, Florida, Paul traversed the 5,000 mile distance between the two farthest points in the contiguous United States. Along the way he encountered nearly every kind of terrain and weather the country had to offer - as well as hundreds of fascinating people whose stories listeners will love. Through cold and heat, loneliness and exhaustion, abundance and kindness, Paul pedaled on. His reward - and the listeners' - is a glimpse of a noble yet humble America that still exists and inspires.

Anyone who longs for adventure, who loves travel and stories of travel, and who loves this place called America will enjoy this book.

A great listen. Both entertaining and thought provoking. Makes me want to get in the saddle and make my own journey.

I want to do that journey

The author is a talented writer, but I found that the emphasis on every element being God-related was a bit much. It distracted from the adventure for me. If someone was religious I am sure it would be perfect. For me, it was off-putting. It’s similar to other translated works where every paragraph ends with a salutation to divinity. Great if you share the faith, but over/the-top for those that do not.

That said - I don’t begrudge the authors sincerity. He feels it was his mission.

If you can get past that - then it’s a well-written, interesting story. The author is a little flawed, but that’s okay.

Well-written. Religious book though

I was hooked with the story of the actual bike riding adventure. The people he met along the way have the story a lot of depth. I was a little disappointed with the parts that reference the Bible and Jesus Christ in length. I little reference is ok but I completely skipped Chapter 13 because I couldn't get past the first part of the chapters Bible study. I almost deleted the book because I was so disappointed. The next chapter gets back to the adventure.

More Adventure please....

I would say to people that are skeptical of the God references in some of the reviews, that after listening to Hiking Through and now Biking Across America, Paul’s easy going nature and beautiful way of looking at America and it’s people that he is right on target.
Love is what will bring people along allowing them to humble themselves and look to God for the ultimate goal in life, the only thing that is everlasting.
Give Paul’s books a chance for they are entertaining, fun, humorous, and spiritual accomplished.
I look forward to Paul’s next adventure for the excitement and love that is delivered.
