Formula One racer Connor Blackwell is recovering from an accident on the racecourse when his father springs an ultimatum on him: get married or get disinherited. Concern for his father's health prompts him to invent a fake engagement, which forces him to produce a fiancée. Only one woman comes to mind. His personal assistant reluctantly agrees to play the role for a short time, but as Connor and Angelina prepare for a wedding never meant to take place, they're both surprised to find their faux engagement is starting to feel very real. Will they make it to "I do" despite machinations from the woman Connor's father wanted him to marry and their own doubts and insecurities?

This is the first audiobooks by Mia Caldwell that I listened to. The story was well written. The narrator was new to me. At times I thought the narrator had too much expression for parts of the story. Maybe it's just me adjusting to someone new, I'm not certain. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, and/or publisher and/or narrator. The story was sweet, had little steam.

I like where the story was going, but it ended abruptly. the bride kept the check Brenda gave her to leave her soon to be husband. Brenda disappeared and the check never mentioned. too many story lines left open in the book.

the narrators work was decent. I had to play around with the speed of my audible app to get it to sound right. her voices between characters was consistent and she does a good job with men's voices

I got this ARC from the author via audiobook boom. This was a billionaire story that was well written. I loved the fact that he took on her autistic brother and helped her get him to a safe place. I don't like deceiving people not even for a good cause. It causes others to have to lie as well. This turned out well in the end but I think he could have found a better way to do it. He is smart he could have asked his father to wait until the party and he would show him his finance. But overall the story and narration were done well. There is enough deceit in the world as it is.

This is a story about how love grew out of an engagement of convenience. It has a Cinderella feel - he is wealthy with concerns about heirs and a demanding parent, she is a working girl with family responsibilities. And like Cinderella, it has the requisite HEA.

The story isn't anything new or even the best in its genre but all the same it is pure romantic escapism. Sometimes that is just what a reader needs.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
