In a near-future world, seraphs and demons fight a never-ending battle. But a new species of mage has arisen. Thorn St. Croix is no ordinary neo-mage. Nearly driven insane by her powers, she has escaped the confines of the Enclaves and now lives among humans. When her ex-husband is kidnapped, Thorn must risk revealing her true identity to save him.

I loved the story. person reading was monotone.
she got excited in last chapter. her voice lulled me to sleep. Liked the story and was very intrigued when she said she was in heat.

I had a hard time figuring out who was speaking without the narrator stating the name. the narrator was OK. she did not try to change her voice for the characters. The author was awesome.

it was a good story

I finished the book and literally have no idea what was going on. There is so much of nothing from the beginning until maybe the last chapter. A bunch of nonsense. Not only that, but Thorn was in “heat” meaning she wants to f*ck everything with a pen-is. Every chapter had Thorn saying she’s in heat. Like an effing in-spayed cat. Not only that but the fact that all the mages, demons, and Serifs want her because of her heat. I don’t understand why all mage women goes into heat? Nobody explained that. Why can’t the guys go into heat? It’s so stupid. The narrator made me feel like Thorn was a hippie. I hate these types of narrators that talk-whisper. I just can’t sympathize with the main character. Just stupid. Not this authors best work.

What a stupid book

Completely new lore, an adventure story set in an obscure post-apocalyptic Earth, experiencing a new ice-age. Humans have slid into religious dogma, where the punishment for seemingly minor infractions (such as swearing out loud) could result in severe punishment.
Brings calling themselves Serifs are worshipped and believed to be Angels, are deadly and mysterious, often ruling with a merciless result.
The main character is a Stone Mage who’s identity must be kept secret, under penalty if gruesome torturous death. She must never reveal her true identity, or even let he best friends know what she can do, lest they suffer the same penalty as she.
I LOVE this book!

Unique and Exciting!

This story of angelic host is extremely unique and still feels authentic. The author's storytelling flows very poetically.

Great storytelling
