More than 2,000,000 children worldwide are bought and sold each year to be used as slaves. This could be just one of their stories.... When his parents agree to send Tavi off to a special school in the city that promises wealth and success, they have no idea that they are handing their son over to real life human traffickers. Tavi's excitement soon turns into horror as he learns what kind of a life he has been forced into and the things that are expected of him. As his world comes crashing down around him, he struggles to stay true to himself in the midst of the darkness. But when one of his friends dies a horrific death, Tavi knows that he must escape if he is to survive and ever have a chance at a normal life again. This is a story about Tavi, a boy who has been sold into human trafficking, and the man who is responsible for Tavi's fate. Science Fiction Alternate History

I loved this book even though it disturbed me and made me get a bit weepy at times. It’s a good way to drive home the desperation of the lives of some children who are sold or tricked into sexual slavery.

Riviting story that draws attention to a very ugly problem.

The automated narrator pronounced the main character’s name differently at times but overall did a good job. The story itself is very dark. I thought it would include more information about helping victims of trafficking but once I got to the end, I learned there’s another book, so maybe it evolves.

A dark tale

Wow that counts a fictional story. It is incredibly important for us to remember that it’s not just girls who are affected by these types of tragedies and trauma.

Boys are also affected

great book but not for everyone. made me feel terrible for the characters and at times sick. this book is based on one of the darkest corners of the earth. I was shocked that these disgusting places could actually exist. I would have given 5 stars but the story doesn't say where it takes place. leaves you wondering where something like this could actually happen and what time period. you'll find yourself rooting for Tavi's freedom and wonderful how could humanity be so cruel

heartbreaking and horrifying

Very messed up book I was recommended this book by someone who listened to true crime and now I’m contemplating life choices… no idea why they said this book when I said literally recommend me anything. once I start a book my ocd makes me finish but is the second park out? Did the author make book two yet I really want to know if the escaped kids see yuri again

Sad wth, still outside of the unspeakable things that happened the story kept me listening
