The individual stories are extreme in their romantic simplicity and get right to the heart of the matter for each couple, the women needing persistent clarity from the men before believing it's all serious. And a baddie of questionable sanity mucking up the works. Each story is connected to the next, so reading/listening in order would be best, if insta-love is your thing.
