Enjoyed this quite a bit and will add this to the list of worlds that would suck to live in 🤣 Nice amount of gore/disturbing scenes. Looking forward to the next book.

This new author deserves more attention

Daniel is killing it for a new author! To not only come out with a strong story but also have these legends narrate it... *golf clap* *tips hat*

A decent start

Decent start of something new. I enjoyed the police procedural aspect in a fantasy world, gives some nice insight into the society without feeling forced. A generally competent story of authority figures struggling with their loyalties, with just the right pinch of overt fantasy elements to give excitement.

My favorite scene would probably be the brothel, as there's something fun about a group of sex workers arming themselves to protect the protagonist and themselves.

The writing quality in general felt slightly beginner level. Competent, no plot holes that I noticed nor thematic blunders, but the general prose didn't come across as an experienced hand. Many sentences lacked a sense of wit or observation beyond the immediate description.

The narrator did really well, no real complaints or praises, just a solid job with different voices and tones.

I'll seriously consider reading the next one in the series, I'm curious how the whole drama will continue and expand.

Unexpectedly Amazing

In only 3 hours I learned to laugh love and cry with these characters, amazing job by Greene. I'd like to pre-order any of his future books now

Great first taste of a new world. So many questions. Can't wait for the next installment to start answering those questions.
