Enduring an 11 day stay in ICU, I had multiple major surgeries just to stay alive. With a traumatic brain injury, an incomplete spinal cord injury, and many other injuries, I spent months in the spinal cord unit. Completely incapacitated, I learned to walk and function again, then miraculously, to ride again. It was an epic journey of pain, loss, and recovery, with many learning experiences:

Do I let this define me, destroy me, or strengthen me? I chose to strengthen.

Kelly-Anne is an inspiration, and not in the overused way: her mindset is something that we can all learn from. The way she describes "hero skills" in descriptive and positive (but not at all conceited) ways is something I will revisit as a benchmark for living a better and fuller life. Thank you, Kelly-Anne, for generously sharing a little bit about what makes you so special.
