Reeling from her brother's senseless death, Gianna Del Vecchio finds comfort in an online forum from a woman who suffered a similar loss. Theirs is a club no one wants to join—survivors of a loved one's suicide. Photos posted to the forum of the woman's cute therapy dog bring cheer when nothing else can, and Gianna is compelled to reach out to say thanks.

After two years, Keenan McEvoy is still fighting her way back from despair after losing her partner, Annabel. She's surprised when she connects with Gianna, whose kindness and compassion ignite a spark she wasn't sure she'd ever feel again.

Their fledgling romance is jeopardized by Jaz, Gianna's ex-girlfriend and current best friend, who'll stop at nothing to keep them apart.

Contains mature themes.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story. I really liked the story. I was worried it would be too depressing, but somehow it wasn't. I liked both main characters and their working lives. Their relationship seemed to grow naturally. I liked the character of Jaz, too. The narrator brought the characters to life well, but her pronunciation of certain words was jarring. She was a good narrator, for the most part. And the dog was also a star of the book, which I really appreciated. I'm not sure how I feel about all the plot aspects. But I guess they showed that people are flawed. This isn't just a story about grief and overcoming it. There's also a mystery component (or components). I think overall the story was well done and uplifting, but a little bit farfetched. It wasn't necessarily what I was expecting, but it was good.

Good, but not necessarily what I was expecting

An important topic raised in this book: how to deal with the suicide of a close person.
Good story, good narration

A good Pittsburgh story

So many twists and turns that were extremely well developed and brought to a satisfying conclusion… The duel mysteries were an interesting addition to path the main characters had to navigate as a part of their individual and romantic journeys. It wasn’t a very warm connection but it was understandable considering where both began. Warning to readers- the story involves suicide, sexual assault, and narcotics addiction. With all of those subjects- the author did a very good job of telling this story.

Complex Difficult Road to Romance

A cathartic story as I lost a family member to suicide. Enjoyed the positive roles the main characters had. The one person who antagonized the relationship allowed me to vent versus get sad about the books topic
For that I am grateful
A healing read for me

Unfortunately could relate

The narrator was not able to switch up her voice enough to make the characters sound unique. The story was fair but to gripping.

Fair story. Probably wouldn’t read twice
