Building Your Own House In Spain
After living and working in Spain for 19 years David started on his dream to buy a plot of land and then design and build his own dream 4 bedroom house, with pool, workshops, gym and gardens, just as he wanted it.

This book takes you through every step of David’s adventure, it really was an adventure, outlining the costs in detail and highlighting the hurdles he had to overcome while providing valuable tips and advice with links to companies and sites that will save you time, money and stress if you are planning a similar building or renovation project adventure in Spain.

After 25 years in the building industry and his years of building and renovation work in both Spain and the UK, David has shared his expert advice with others including his guest appearance on the BBC news channel and the Channel 4s “ A place in the sun”. He has appeared on Local radio stations and podcast interviews as well as providing help and info on all aspects of living and working in Spain on his own podcast show, blog, Facebook groups and YouTube channels.

This 2 yearlong adventure had its ups and downs and at the age of 59 David is still working on the almost finished house that he now enjoys with his Spanish wife in sunny Almeria.
These tips and advice are from years of experience working in Spain and dealing with the Spanish system and how to handle the mountains of sometimes unnecessary red tape and paperwork that’s needed for such projects.

There are new strict building rules and regulations now in Spain that are difficult to navigate at times but David, with the help of his Spanish wife, who works for local government, will show that they can be less stressful if you have a heads up and are prepared beforehand.
“If you want what others have then you need to do what others do”
Following just some of David’s advice will give you new insights and ideas on how you could make your house build or renovation go faster and easier with less stress, for less money.
There are some very valuable building insights with links to places, companies and trades people that are all over Spain where you can buy materials and contract workers at the best prices possible.

Many building projects in Spain run over budget and fall into problems or fail due to lack of experience, funds or planning. David has seen first-hand many British start similar projects of different sizes here in Spain and what they have done or didn’t do to make it work.
If you want to build your dream house or just renovate a property in Spain, then this book will provide you with advice that will encourage you and guide you over hurdles that you would not have thought about if you have not already been through this adventure.
This is the 3rd book in the "Living in Spain Series" from David
