Dr. Kent and Amber Brantly (with David Thomas) tell of Dr. Brantly’s near-death encounter with the Ebola virus in Liberia. The first American diagnosed during the 2014 outbreak, Dr. Brantly’s ordeal—including his controversial evacuation to and hospitalization in the United States—received worldwide media attention. Interspersed in the account is the full story of how both Kent and his wife, Amber, sought to serve others in the name of Christ in Liberia. Then, when tragedy struck—as thousands, perhaps millions of people worldwide prayed for his life—miraculous events unfolded that resulted in Dr. Brantly’s flight to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta…and an eventual clean bill of health.

Amazing! I love this book. Kent and Amber are amazing people! Praise the Lord for Kent's recovery. May their story bless the people of Liberia with better healthcare and a belief in Jesus.

The bravery and peace that Kent had as he struggled to survive with Ebola, and all credit went to God

What an amazing man

Kent and Amber do an incredible job of bringing the listener into the story. The Ebola virus was a story happening when I was in my own health battle with Lyme disease and didn’t have television, so I was only vaguely aware that it had people in an uproar. Listening to this made me realize how truly awful the disease is and the devastation it caused in Africa.

I’m hoping to find a book detailing the development of the antibody treatment which sounds like a fascinating piece of history as well

Very affecting true account of faith

I found Kent & Amber Brantly’s story to be well-written, thoughtful and spiritually compelling. It’s a difficult book because of the topic, but handled with sensitivity and compassion. I was drawn into the story enough to put up with my annoyance with the readers. Kaleo Griffith has a great voice but reads REALLY slowly with frequent LONG pauses. I don’t enjoy Sarah Zimmerman’s reading generally as she has a bit of a sing song thing going on. It’s not as bad in this book as some others I’ve heard.

Moving story, Not my favorite readers
