Discovering God's Will for Your Life

When an individual begins to seek God's divine will, His purpose, and His plan for their life, they seldom get a message from God with everything spelled out from the beginning to the end of their days. Discovering God's will often comes through a series of circumstances and oportunities which unfold one day, one event at a time.

God instills within each person a unique pool of potential which they can choose to develop and mature over time. For those called to minister behind the pulpit, sing, go to a specific mission field, or play an instrument, God's plan may seem more obvious to them than to others. What about those of us who are called to do God's will through pursuits that are not as publicly visible? How can we know if we are heading in the right direction as we try to discover God's will. Why does God's will often include challenges that we didn't anticipate?

Many questions are asked in these devotions to facilitate the reader's thought processes about finding the will of God for their future. God's plan for each life is as unique as the person. The impartation of skills, talents, and abilities in an individual may indicate where they ultimately find God's will unfolding before them. The first step in discovering the will of God is the desire to know it. God always responds to this sincere request in His own special way and His appropriate time.

This book is a compilation of stories from the author regarding her personal quest to discover God's will for her life, and the many ways God's will was discovered during the journey rather than an advance directive. Judith Victoria Hensley was a weekly columnist featured in the Harlan Daily Enterprise, (Harlan, Kentucky) for over twenty five years. Several stories in this collection were first printed in her column, Plain Thoughts.

Many people around the world seek to find hope in God and want to believe that life has purpose, meaning, and that as indivuals, God has a plan for each. The reader will be rewarded with food for thought and encouragement as they seek to find God's will. Stories are often humorous, but also meant to be guide marker's pointing the reader toward a deeper understanding and a closer relationship with God.
