Many like Kaia’s family escaped at the end of the war. Yet, they retained their pride in being Estonian and cheered when the strength and resilience of Baltic patriots finally enabled Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to regain their independence more than fifty years after World War II ended.

This book tells a truly remarkable story about a family’s journey through war and survival, and the following multi-generational process to understand and come to terms with its journey.
