Candace “Candy” Leavenworth is in her mid-20s, successful and beautiful. She is also known for being snobbish and difficult to get along with.

The owner of a temp agency, Candy is known as the "Flower Girl" for her horticultural talents. Not to mention the rumors about a pair of strategically placed cactuc flower tatoos.

A lifetime resident of Madsen, Texas, even in school Candy was one of a group of girls who found themselves a step above that portion of the student body who came from the hard-working and down-to-earth ranching and farming families in the countryside outside of Madsen.

One classmate in particular, Wade Meadows, always had a thing for Candy, but all that she had for him in return was disdain. Now living next door to Wade’s uncle and aunt, she finds herself in a moment of desperation when her oven does not work, only to find that Wade is next door helping his relatives prepare for a Thanksgiving feast.

In mortification, she finds herself forced to walk next door and ask for help from this young man she had always belittled and disrespected. Circumstances have brought them into proximity, and it results in some frank discussion between them…… Wade including in a comment to her the manner in which he would have liked to have remedied her snooty attitude years ago.
