The Mediterranean recently became an active war zone. Russia bolstered its naval fleet on the coast of Syria north of Beirut and in the Black Sea to support its invasion of Ukraine. Newly promoted Captain Dan Phillips just reported to duty aboard the USS Harry S. Truman as the new Information Warfare Officer for NATO whose job was to coordinate exercises for Strike Force 8 based in Naples. The exercises had barely begun when Russia cut off its oil flowing to Europe when an LNG tanker loaded with gas from a new source in Israel was sunk by a Russian submarine. Captain Phillips was revising plans for exercises to protect tankers when he was asked by Abe Gagin, head of the Ceasarea Branch of Mossad, to provide sancuary for Bordeau, Bristol, and their wives, Kathryn and Cindy, who were fleeing an assasination attempt. The two wives were part owners of Barnett Fisheries that was instrumental in helping Gagin foil a Russian scheme to destroy more LNG tankers using mini-subs launched from Syria.
