To save their allies on the planet Taln, Thadd and Annora must sneak into the enemy’s most feared science labs. As they fight side by side, they are forced to face their overwhelming attraction. But as the enemy closes in, it is a race against time to save not only Taln but themselves.

Captain of the guard

Another great listen to this series! Now it’s the captain of the guard.. obviously.. good lord Stacey get.it.together. It’s refreshing to hear other actors voices and how they bring these characters to life. Well for me. Anyways, this is action pack and I enjoyed listening to the banter of these two characters.

Get ready for an adventure!!

Annora Rahl is a wolf shape shifter from the planet Damari. She is Emperor Brodin Damar Sarkany’s right-hand warrior, which in the lingo of the Damari, means she is his First Claw. She has been tasked to work with Captain Thadd Naveri of the planet Zhalto, who has an equivalent leadership role on that planet. He was taken prisoner recently and his body was experimented upon by alien scientists. He is still having trouble accepting this invasion of his body, and since then, he’s been ignoring the fact that his abilities have altered. The task that Annora and Thadd must complete is to stop a warlord from mining genite (which is toxic to the people of Thadd’s planet) on Andret, one of the five planets of their solar system. They are determined to succeed, and not let any genite leave Andret.

Anyway, Thadd and Annora have to work together on this mission, and on a further mission, but Annora is used to leading, and it seems that Thadd is as well. So they clash when Thadd wants to take over, and when he seems to disrespect her abilities as a leader and a warrior. They must figure out how to see the skills of the other as a plus, and then learn how to work together. After they do all that, they naturally fall in love. Of course, there are numerous challenges, arguments, fights, dangerous situations, and stinky aliens to fight first, but they do figure it out. This leads to a highly entertaining story that is fast-paced and tense.

The narration is excellent! Vivienne Leheny and Stephen Dexter do a good job of bringing this story to life. When Dexter starts narrating, it’s almost as if he’s speaking just a bit over a whisper, and it pulls the reader in fully. Yet when he voices different characters, they are fully believable and sound full and rich. Leheny does a fantastic job voicing different characters as well. There aren’t any skips or mouth noises evident in the recording.

The fight continues

King Zavir is still attacking the planets and people of the system, this time by developing a weapon of destruction for planet Taln through the use of a specific crystal deadly to its people.

Captain Thad Naverri and First Claw Annora Rahl volunteer for a mission to infiltrate and destroy the threat before the weapon can be completed and sent to Taln.

These two spark strong emotions in each other from the beginning, but as they spend more time together and battle what comes their way, I love what starts to develop.

Great standalone story within a larger epic world.

About time Thad!!!

Finally bruiting ole Thad let’s his guard down and allows love in! Despite King Zavir still playing dirty romance blossoms in the air. These 2 make a kick azz team when trying to stop the nasty machine that comes to play in this book. I love how this series has so much action and so much love all mixed into one. Crazy adventure how humans come to fall in love with people and shape shifters from different planets. I love the team work that arises to save the planets from their evil father. I hope this series continues so we can finally see the brothers be able to live peacefully with their new loves 💕Anna Hackett is amazing at writing these stories and giving you all kinds of feels through each book. Vivienne and Stephen have the perfect voices, emotions and expressions to captivate you from chapter 1 to the end. Awesome job all around

Great story! 4.5 stars overall

I love all of Anna Hackett's stories. So it os no surprise that the story has an amazing balance of action and science fiction.

Vivienne Leheny was excellent in her narration. Stephen Dexter was okay. I loved his villain voice, but his narration as Thadd (Hero) was a little too nasal for me.

Overall, I would highly recommend this!
