When a promising actress from Spanish Harlem dies from a gunshot wound in the Tribeca penthouse apartment of an eccentrically famous Broadway producer, it is up to New York D.A. Roger "Butch" Karp and his hard-charging, crime-fighting wife, Marlene Ciampi, to champion the murdered actress's cause. Karp - outraged by defense tactics to destroy the young woman's reputation and the mysterious death of the assistant D.A. assigned to the case - decides to personally prosecute the case and expose the "Big Lie" defense.

With Marlene's assistance, Karp is determined that money, threats, notoriety, and a high-powered defense attorney and his legion of experts will not prevail over justice. Then Karp's daughter Lucy goes missing.

What sets Robert K. Tannenbaum's works apart are his intriguing characters and the sense of decency and morality of his protagonists. This book interweaves several subplots, mostly successfully, and succeeds in holding the reader's attention throughout. Good triumphs over evil, but not without a heck of a struggle!

A Fine Thriller

The first couple of chapters Mr tannenbaum sets up his story introducing you to the characters like preacher grill Lucy Ned and the list can go on the book is very interesting I love how I can almost see the streets of New York as he describes every little thing this out there has a very good series and it is well worth the credit I wish I had this on hard copy it's definitely a book I'll be listening to several times.

another good book for a rainy day, not for idiots
