I am a Christ-centric mystical omnist with gnostic-resonant restorationist spirituality and a radically honest epistemology of faith. Put simply I am a Jesus-hearted seeker who reads everything but bows to One. These fifteen sermons were never meant to stay quiet. Some burst onto social media at 3 a.m. because the fire would not wait. Others were written in silence and kept like letters no one might ever open. A few still carry the taste of late-night nicotine and desperate prayer. There is no cigarette smoke in this book. I traded that for grace and a vape. But there is blood sweat metal riffs desert scrolls hospital tears and every scar I ever earned dragged to the foot of the Cross until it started singing. This is not polished religion. This is not safe. This is what happens when Mercy refuses to stay in the box we built for Her. Welcome to the Cathedral of Scars. The doors are wide open. The Light is already inside.

After listening through the first time, I found myself wanting to revisit each sermon for a deeper dive in connection with the texts referenced. So I did. I've enjoyed the depth of conversations inspired by this book, especially as Alex Parkview has made it so easily relatable mixing in pop culture references that truly shift perspective when considered. The narration is done well, with appropriate emphasis and emotion. I have recommended this to several friends and will not hesitate to share it with more.

Preface: I find the general study of religion fascinating. Many questions. Few answers. So many similarities. So many differences. Alex Parkview's thoughts and middle-of-the-night philosophical musings with modern-day connections adds new and unique viewpoints onto previously known and studied verses. With a proper intro and outro, and verifiable references for each, the sermons span multiple disciplines of study, religious texts and origins. Non-preachy, but questioning and wise, the words narrated professionally by Mark Cyr are deep in meaning and layered with potential value. Overall, a mind-awakening listen certain to inspire many nights of answer-seeking dreams. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 2.0x.]

I have to start this review by saying that I am not Christian, Catholic, or any of those religions, even though I grew up in a Catholic family. But this little book, of about two hours, written by Alex Parkview, left me in awe!!! I usually ask for ARCs that are thrillers, horror, or anything that will keep me awake at night. However, I asked for this ARC because the name looked like it was a scary one, and then I started to read because it’s only about two hours. I could finish it really fast, and then I started listening to religion stuff, and I gave a few chapters and put it aside with something else that was totally awesome and decided to come back. I read this and kept on reading them because it was only an hour, and I decided to keep on going, and one chapter led to the other one. When I checked what chapter I was in, I was already in chapter 9, and Jesus was saying, “Go to sleep, child. The light is already inside of you.” That hit me. The book is very spiritual, and the narrative by Mark Cyr was great, keeping you in there.
The author, Alex Parkview, was excellent, and this different way of writing makes it so special. A few chapters or sermons, like he puts it in these books, make me want to read more. Like the author says in chapter 15, that also stuck on my head: “Let’s make Thanksgiving different this year. Let’s pray like before.” Also, he keeps on saying, “We won before we left.”
Overall, great performance by the narrator and the author. Downloading the next one! Thank you for the ARC and for making me think!!!

From zero stars to five stars in 15 chapters!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
