Chandelier in Disguise

The mammoth chandelier in a pile behind her garage is calling. Time for Barrie Bennett, junk refurbisher extraordinaire, to turn it into something beautiful for her Flea Market Flip Shop. But while she’s deciding what to do with it, intrepid Captain Tina Samoset makes a discovery that blows the lid off her plans. The diamonds and pearls, hundreds of them, worked into the fixture’s filigree design, are real.

They can’t be. Can they? The total value has to be astronomical. The chandelier’s been in her junk pile for more than two years. Surely, someone would’ve missed it by now.

Two weeks ago, in bizarrely bad timing, Barrie’s beloved neighbor, Clara Henderson, recently reunited with a long-lost love, passed away. Her home is for sale. Grayson buys it. He’s been looking for something to do since retiring from surfing, so he starts knocking out walls…and unearths a bag of pristine Revolutionary-war bills.

As things happen in small towns, word gets out about both discoveries. The question for Barrie and Gray is: which treasure are the fiends targeting?
