I had to listen to this book a few times in order to understand it. The author had been reading a copy of Dante's Inferno before giving in to negative emotions about himself and his own situation when he slipped off to sleep. What followed was like a dream within a dream in which he walked through part of hell, but it was his own personal hell created in his subconscious related to his own life, doubts, and fears. He wakes up to find his beloved wife beside him and sees his life in a much more positive light. Not so much a religious book as it is a creative look at perception. Remember, if a book doesn't make sense to you, read it a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time until you understand it. By the way the book that was mentioned was written in the middle ages and modern translations are available. It is a religious book about 9 layers of hell. Not exactly upbeat reading. This short book is great though and well worth the read!
