She’s my daughter’s nurse, ten years younger, and completely off-limits, but my heart doesn’t care.

From the moment Janie stepped into my life, she’s been a distraction I can’t afford. Her laughter fills my home, her touch sends shivers down my spine, and those cut-off shorts make me lose control.

As Pleasant Bay’s Police Chief, I’m supposed to be in control, but every glance from her makes me forget my duties.

Janie’s here to help Violet, but she’s healing parts of me I thought were long dead.

Our age gap is a constant worry, and I know everyone in town will have something to say.

But every moment with her ignites a fire I’ve tried to extinguish since Julie’s death.

Her spirit and beauty are breaking down every barrier I’ve built.

Just as I dared to dream of a future together, two pink lines shatter our fragile peace.

Now, I face a tormenting choice: cling to the ghosts of my past or embrace the promise of a family I never imagined.

For fans of small-town romances with a touch of forbidden love, "Charming the Chief" is a must-read. If you enjoyed Nicholas Sparks' "The Notebook," you'll also love this heartwarming and emotional tale.

Ok, so this one hit me on a personal level and I may have shed some tears. Lou was so awful towards Janie. He kept saying to himself that he cared for her but he treated her badly. He did apologize and their relationship progressed. I do not know if I'm spiteful but I think I would have made him beg a little more than Janie did. After saying all that, I did enjoy this story.
