In Cheerfulness, veteran radio host and author Garrison Keillor reflects on a simple virtue that can help us in this stressful and sometimes gloomy era. Drawing on personal anecdotes from his young adulthood into his 80s, Keillor sheds light on the immense good that can come from a deliberate work ethic and a buoyant demeanor.

I needed this book to help me stay steeped in reality, but at the same time look at my life in a humorous vein.

If you are approaching 80 you will love this book, if not …

I’ve always loved Garrison Keillor’s work. A Prairie Home Companion, of course, but I’m also a great fan of his writing.

I own, so far as I’m aware, (hard)copies of all of his books. But his most recent books (e, g. “Serenity at 70, Gaiety at 80” and his memoir “That Time of Year”) have had a much more “personal” tone to them, and so, for me, I find them perfect as audiobooks.

It’s like having a close friend speaking to you, personally.

Highly recommend.

Wonderful, as expected

Garrison reading it makes up for the years without Prarie home companion. I grew up listening to his show with my mom on Sundays, then later on my own in college. Now I'm 42 and love his works more

Real, positive and uplifting with laughs along the way.

I liked the stories, the narrator, and a few glimpses of thr Prairie Home Companion.

Enjoyable uplifting read

I love the way that Garrison finds the good in things and appreciates that the glass is not only more than half full, but it was free in the first place.

We all could use some cheerfulness
