Bestselling author Kay Hooper turns up the heat even as she chills listeners to the bone with a suspense novel that distills the essence of fear itself. In this relentless thriller, two psychics put more than their lives on the line to stop a killer darker and more evil than they could ever imagine....

FBI agent Quentin Hayes always knew he had an unusual talent, even before he was recruited by Noah Bishop for the controversial Special Crimes Unit. But, as gifted as he is, for 20 years he's been haunted by a heartbreaking unsolved murder that took place at The Lodge, a secluded Victorian-era resort in Tennessee. Now he's returned one final time, determined to put the mystery to rest.

Diana Brisco has come there hoping to unlock the mystery of her troubled past. Instead, she is assailed by nightmares and the vision of a child who vanished from The Lodge years ago. And an FBI agent is trying to convince her that she isn't crazy but that she has a rare gift, a gift that could catch a killer.

Quentin knows that this is his last chance to solve a case that has become a dangerous obsession. But can he persuade Diana to help him, knowing what it could cost her? For something cold and dark and pure evil is stalking the grounds of The Lodge. Something Diana may not survive. Something Quentin never felt before: the chill of fear.

Suspenseful build up to a crescendo finish. My interest was engaged from start to completion of the event.
The characters were realistically presented and the situation logically portrayed. All loose ends were tied up, with even a pleasant little bonus caviar, revelation at the end.

I fell in love with Kay Hooper’s work through reading this story years ago. Now I revisited it through audible.

The narrator did a very good job, holding the listener’s interest throughout the story.

Perfection.

I've always been a really big fan of the SCU books by this author. I n my opinion the best thing she did was change the genre she writes. That's not to demean prior efforts by this talented Writer. However it's like magic when you find your niche. I liked the narrator as well.

Another chilling mystery solved.

Kay Hooper's Bishop series is awesome. This is another hit! Great characters and twisted plot. I do so love her plot lines. Narration was solid and well done. Dick Hill does a very good job! Even if you have never read or heard a Bishop's novel before, you can read/listen to this without getting lost - a good stand alone!

Great book and narration!
