In the spirit of the holiday and a wish for familial harmony, Irene Adler persuades her detective husband to invite his brother Mycroft to Christmas luncheon. Holmes had cut ties with his brother when he discovered the machinations Mycroft employed that drove Sherlock and Adler apart for four years. He isn’t really sure this reunion is a great idea, but he can deny his wife nothing.

Of course, they can’t tell the children what Mycroft is to them, as that would entail learning that their father is the celebrated detective when they know him simply as Lucca Sapori. And just when they think things may be going better than expected, ghosts of the past crop up in unexpected ways and threaten to ruin the holidays for everyone.

Felt uncomfortably real sometimes

Some scenes reminded me of real family meals where everyone’s pretending things are fine. The story captures that feeling really well. I liked how nothing was rushed and the emotions were allowed to sit. It’s not long, but it stays with you longer than expected.

A Christmas mystery

The Saporis, also known as Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler, are celebrating Christmas with their children in the country. They have invited Sherlocks brother, Mycroft, to come for luncheon and they have brought Mrs. Hudson to cook for them which is great since Nene (Irene) isn't much of a cook. The holiday takes a turn when not one, but two surprise guests show up and Sherlock is ask to consult on a very curious death.
A very enjoyable story and performance.

I enjoyed listening to the book just as much as I did reading it. It is well done, adding in England's English. I enjoyed the story.
