The coach takes time away from his new job to search for him, and it doesn’t go over well with his boss–nor with Harvey Johnston, the county’s chief investigator and his fishing partner and best friend.

He also can’t make us his mind about what to do with Jessie, Harvey’s sultry secretary who has her claws sharpened for Ernie. He still grieves his dead wife and nobody can measure up, despite Jessie’s most compelling efforts.

As Ernie digs into Linn’s disappearance, he discovers several curious connections with the town’s bawdy past and its present citizens–and how far some people go to protect precious secrets.
