Narrator too hard to listen to

Sorry! I could not get past chapter 3. I'm a little hard of hearing and the soft voice was at a pitch I had to concentrate hard to hear. she also cut the contracted words in a manner that irritated me. wouldn't became wou'nt, etc. I could not rate the story, since I was unable to finish the book.
