Voici l'histoire d'un vieux peintre chinois du nom de Wang-Fô. Il peignait si bien que ses tableaux étaient magiques. Malgré cela, Wang-Fô était très pauvre, car il donnait ses peintures en cadeau ou les échangeait contre un bol de riz. Un jour, cependant, l'empereur le convoqua en son palais, pour le menacer, lui, le vieux maître qu'il admirait tant, d'un terrible châtiment...
