Fun-loving professional hockey player Benjamin "Benny" Perry is all about scoring, both on and off the ice. With his good looks and easygoing personality, women flock to him, which is great. It keeps things the way this Las Vegas Wolves forward likes - uncomplicated.

Too bad that's all about to change.

When Benny decides to get back at his coach by pursuing his daughter, Eliza, who's just returned to town under mysterious circumstances, complications abound. What begins as a simple conquest becomes anything but when Benny starts to really fall for Eliza.

But something is up.

Though Eliza seems to be as into him as he is to her, Benny senses she's hiding something.

Or maybe she's hiding someone.

Benny would never guess Eliza is hiding a baby - her baby. But it doesn't end there. The father of her child just happens to be a hockey player, too. And he's Benny's biggest nemesis.

Now he's joining the team. Talk about complicated!

Complications on Ice is the third standalone novel in the best-selling Boys of Winter hockey romance series. Each book in the Boys of Winter series features a different smoking hot hockey player's story.

There is something about the way SR Grey writes this series that captures my attention and keeps me there. Each player she chooses to feature has such depth and character, it is easy to find qualities that are understandable and easy to relate to. Benny is a character that we met in the first two books of this series, and the one I have wanted to get to know better. Eliza, the coach's daughter is off limits, but Benny is out to piss off the coach. Little does he know what he is in for with this woman. With secrets and complicated pasts, these two have a lot to overcome. It is refreshing to have a story that is not all hearts and roses, but real issues are dealt with both characters. The addiction that Benny has overcome is accentuated throughout the story, with the addition of his sponsor and how he has to work everyday to keep on track. Eliza has a secret that has forced her to grow up, but I did find her ability to live two separate lives frustrating. I know it was supposed to, but it still got to me at times. Benny's personality is such that he is always understanding and loving, so at there were times that it is hard to deal with the situations he is given. That is what made this book such a good listen I think, life is not easy and this story is one that is such that you can lose yourself in it and respond with the emotions that the characters are going through. It's always fun to see characters from previous books, giving the series a fun cohesiveness, yet each story can be read as a stand alone. With teammates like Brent, Nolan and Dylan, we know that we are in for more shenanigans when we get Dylan's book!

Tracy Marks as always gives a stellar performance. With her pace and ability to perform male and female voices to perfection, it makes the listen an easy one. I am always in awe that she can create such differences with the ages, going from the young 21 year old girl to the 45 year old father and you can hear the character just as you would expect. She is amazing.

think Benny might be my favorite of the guys so far. I absolutely loved the resolution at the end of this but, what a ride it was to get there. I immediately loved Eliza, however, I just couldn’t get behind her until all of her secrets came out. I was also surprised Benny was so calm throughout all she did. I definitely wanted more at the end of this story though because it took so long to get where they needed to be.

I 💜 Benny

I picked this story because Ms. Marks is one of my top five fave voices and she did an amazing job as usual. Love the voices she gave the characters and how it fits their temperaments.

The story is well written, but would have been so much better if Eliza would not have been such a liar. Everybody makes mistakes, but she makes them worse by lying at every turn, then she goes and tests Ben involving one of his old puck bunnies? He is so in love with her that he overlooks everything. They work it out at the end and get their HEA, but this story just didn't do it for me.

complications indeed

The writing is good and I liked the humor Grey puts into her writing. This one just didn't connect with me. I really disliked the characters. Mainly Eliza, she's immature and a liar. She lies all the time, and she really got on my nerves. She's really irresponsible, and everyone in her life just let's her get away with it and take very little responsibility for her actions. She got pregnant by a jerk hockey player, the guy doesn't want anyone to know he has a baby, so he pays Eliza to keep quite about him being the father. She doesn't tell anyone who the dad is. She can't take care of the baby by herself, so she moves back in with her parents, and decides to keep the baby a secret from everyone. That right there bothered me so much, then when there's hints to her having a baby, she chooses to lie about it over and over again. Eliza's character really ruined the whole story for me, and I couldn't enjoy any connection between Benny and her. I also didn't really care for Benny. He was okay, but he was a little too blah for me. The book is mostly entertaining, and I like Grey's writing style, so that's why I gave it 3 stars, but overall, this book didn't work for me. I really liked the first 2 books in this series, so I'll keep reading the next book(s) in this series, and I like Grey's writing style too. I listened to the audiobook version of this story, and the narrator did a good job, so I enjoyed the listening experience, so I'd recommend it.

Good series, but this book didn't work for me

I found a few spots where it was kinda corny, but overall, a great book. I loved the narrating. she did a fabulous job. I really loved her male voices. those are hard to do as a woman.

very entertaining
