Confessions of a Grateful Pilgrim: Reflections @ 70, is the spiritual autobiography of Dr. Gary S. Maxey. In an unusually candid summary of his spiritual odyssey, he takes us all the way from his misunderstanding and rejection of God in his early childhood to his present activities as a pastor, seminary founder and writer. Confessions are certainly there, but also many reasons why he is today a grateful pilgrim with high hope for heavenly rewards. Dr. Maxey describes how he came into a dynamic walk with God at age seventeen, including his personal discovery of the meaning of holiness. He also tells candidly recounts his lengthy battle with the return of pornographic addiction that had marked his childhood, and how it was eventually overcome. With similar candor he tells how after nearly thirty years of peaceful and productive marriage he faced a storm of marital stress and failure that lasted for several years before it was happily resolved. This is a story of hope for anyone facing the common struggles of living out the Christian life in the modern world.
