Character development is off the charts awesome. The story has some serious curves you won’t see coming. And Paige Reisenfeld was absolutely perfect. A wonderful listen, I think you’ll agree.

Unique Story

I liked the realistic look into Appalachia, that had a bit of a twist. Although very much an insiderers perspective, it brings to light modern scenarios that while not largely expected, DO occurr in real life. The story is set in the eighties, taking me back to childhood where many places are familiar, however the more adult details were not at that time.
it brings clarity to the real world here in the mountains and I honestly didn't expect it to be so gripping. Pleasantly surprised! Don't hesitate if you want something different.

Strength in Heels, Unique Bonds

With a new lease on life, Connie meets Carla and despite Carla being a stripper their bond grows.

The author, Christiana Lang crafts an intense and emotional tale of resilience, following a young woman’s journey through life. Crippled from an early age and denied corrective surgeries, Connie’s rare moment of normalcy is both poignant and immersive. Lang masterfully develops her characters through rich dialogue, action, and behavior, while side characters are thoughtfully portrayed to maintain the story’s seamless flow. With well-executed plot twists and heartfelt relationships built on care and connection, this captivating narrative leaves a lasting impression.

The narrator, Paige Reisenfeld, delivers a powerful performance infused with energy and excitement, adding layers of suspense and depth. Her clear, concise delivery, combined with subtle intonations and a well-paced cadence, elevates emotional moments and keeps listeners fully engaged from start to finish.

This is a well-written and performed audiobook, with insightful portrayals of relationships and emotional depth.

fast, fun read

I really enjoyed the portrayal of friendship between the two characters, especially the cute parts with the cb radios and the truckers (personal reasons) great character development and as always a wonderful performance by Paige Reisenfeld
