Why do some police encounters end in death? The issue with law enforcement misconduct involves the loss of control. The loss of life may occur because citizens fail to respond to the officer in a manner to eliminate the officer’s fears. Police encounter that end with unnecessary violence is similar to “Domestic violence” or abuse stemming from a desire to gain and maintain power and control. In the domestic situation the individual does not know how to control anger, they lose control of their anger. Often people of authority believe they have the right to control and restrict everyone they encounter, and they enjoy this feeling of power. By knowing your rights and controlling yourself you can respond by controlling every angry person you encounter. It is important that you know how to control threatening situations with dangerous people and a police encounter can be both.
