Escape to the Chesapeake Bay, where beach life is full of love, surprises and second chances…

When an injury forces K-9 officer Trey Harrison onto the sidelines, his only thought is getting back to the police force where he belongs. And he’ll do anything to make that happen - even volunteer in a small waterfront community, just to please his boss. But no one ever said Trey had to enjoy it...

Since the surgery that destroyed her dreams of having children, schoolteacher Erica Rowe has grown even more dedicated to her work with at-risk teens. So she doesn't need some cop with a chip on his shoulder putting the program's future in jeopardy. But when Trey finally connects with the students, Erica's heart melts. And when, in a tender moment, he admits he longs to have children, her heart breaks. She's convinced he'd be better off with someone who can give him everything, but she can't seem to shake the hope that maybe love is enough...

I chose this title from the “included your membership “ section because it sounded like a good story to listen to when I was unsure what I wanted to listen to.

I liked how the author included heavy topics in a relatable way that did not feel like a burden or downer. I did want to jump to a few characters defense a few times and I absolutely loved the dogs.

I will look for other books by this author.

What a wonderful story of love, family, & community. A refreshing, clean book! Cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Characters were well developed. Even minor characters had enough description they seemed authentic. The female lead, Erica, was a strong woman. Certainly she had anxieties, particularly related to the genetic cancer she carried that affected her mom and sister, but she wasn’t a simpering woman who needed a man to fulfill her or save her life.
The male lead was a strong but also sensitive man, who of course has his own insecurities. But his insecurities and Erica’s anxieties came by understandably, and authentically.

They both played important roles in the special school program designed to help troubled kids. The progress the students made was believable and not at all contrived.

The only character who was a bit over the top was the school principal who fought the special program all year.

I enjoyed the story, and sometimes listened for longer at night than was good for my sleep. 🛏️😉

Strong, believable characters

I liked this book. I didn't know why at first? It moved slow at first, yet I stayed involved. My trying to come up with a title involving the important things to me, Romance, (maybe LOVE), teens and dogs.
