The first book in a brand new western romance trilogy from number one New York Times best-selling author Linda Lael Miller!

For outsiders, Painted Canyon, Montana might simply be a picturesque western town, but for rancher and horse trainer Cord Hollister, it's meant salvation. That's why he recognizes in newcomer Shallie Fletcher another lost soul looking for a fresh start. But can he convince her that Painted Canyon is the perfect place to put down roots-and that love awaits if she'll just take a chance?

Found this to be monotonous in several places. I ended up skipping through. Somehow I was not invested in these people.

Elongated and over wordy

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy the other contemporary books (series’s) this author has written… I love her contemporary and historical books, and wonder if the negative reviews I’ve seen on here are from others who are more into the historical fiction. County Strong kept me interested and I listened to it in just a couple days. Great character development, keeps ya guessing, great romance, and also some humor thrown in there. Can’t wait to listen to the next book.

Another great one!

I got bogged down and ended up skipping chapters. I liked the narration, but I didn’t love it.

Very Hallmark

Overall a good book. The strong characters and their stories are worth knowing. I appreciate Miller's emphasis on the value of family, friends and all creatures
great & small. My only disappointment was some unnecessary repetition and that intangible that elevates a good story to a great one.

Second Chances

This story began with an interesting premise about a young girl who came to town declaring that one of three men there was her father, rather a sperm doner 17 years prior unbeknownst to any of the three men. Then it went off in a completely different direction with all three men overjoyed to be her father if it turns out that way. Then reality takes a real hit when everyone in this small town forgives all the girls lies and loves her and then the main romance of the story is just so uninteresting….boring in fact. No sparks no connection. Cord is completely indifferent to Shelly but she has a crush on Cord so at some point she kisses him. Then as any man would, he responds to Shally by wanting her. This relationship moves along at a snail’s pace while all the losses and rejections and abandonment issues are resolved for them and all the townspeople and everyone immediately had a perfect life, this was like a Hallmark movie on steroids!

So super sweet it gave me a headache!
