Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Officer Cruz Sawyer might have made a new home for himself in the Smoky Mountains. But a new town and a new life doesn’t mean he can outrun his past. Not when he’s the reason his fiancé was killed in a robbery gone wrong.

Despite the ghosts he battles every day, his best friend Zoe Peyton finds a way to make him smile. But he has one solid vow: his friendship with Zoe is sacred and he’ll keep himself in the friendzone if it kills him.

Zoe has her own painful past. One that rears its ugly head when she’s attacked in her bed, barely escaping when Cruz rushes to her aid. As she struggles to separate her past from her present, she can’t help but wonder if she’s been wrong to keep Cruz at arm’s length for so long.

When the attacker strikes again, Cruz refuses to let someone else he cares about die. He’ll stay by Zoe’s side until danger subsides, but as the stakes raise, the walls he’s built around his heart crumble. And as they make their way closer to the truth, the enemy is nearly impossible to see.

I've read this author's books before and have enjoyed them but the AI narration is very off-putting and distracting...not for me.

not a fan of AI narration

Virtual voice still doesn’t have it totally. Not enough inflection or change in tone between characters. But it’s getting better. Not my favorite way to present though.

Good plot

I neither liked or disliked the book. Characters w8ere a little hinky and so predictable. Virtual voice really lowers the enjoyment of the book

This was an OK book, but no unexpected plot twists. The virtual voice doesn't help either.

The story was fine. The virtual voice made it hard to enjoy. The Pauses were off and the 'voice' inflections just seemed wrong. So the story might been more enjoyable with real people. I DO NOT recommend the audio!
