What really happened at the Cross? Did the Father really forsake His son and “turn His back” as some claim? How could an all-loving God punish someone innocent for the crimes of the world? By taking a careful look at the Biblical text, Old Testament practices, New Testament terminology, culture, and history, Will Hess seeks to present a clearer view of Christ’s work than what is often popularized and answer some of the biggest questions surrounding the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This work is a must read for anyone who wants to better understand how Jesus defeated our greatest enemy on the most pivotal day in human history. Will Hess has done his homework. To dismiss this treatise without examination is either gross ignorance or blind adherance to the unbiblical but unquestioned position of dominance that PSA has taken in today's Christianity.

Textual priority meets real scholarship without any of the arrogance.

Tour de force articulation of biblical pre penal-substitutionary atonement theology, along with a superb multi-faceted exegetical challenge to the later-which currently permeates nearly all aspects of modern western theology, from religious social media to gospel music, to the pulpit. Absolutely put my pursuit for biblical veracity into hyperdrive as it drove me into the scriptures myself as I relearned the exceptional scope of Jesus Christ’s work while on earth including His resurrection and ascension, and the astounding support that points to His obliterating power over sin and death more than just a transactional hostage negotiation of souls.

AI narrator doesn’t handle scripture reference abbreviations well or consistently…very minor.

You can’t unlearn this once you hear it, and you will begin to see the hints and edicts of PSA everywhere in religion.
