A Sheep Hunting Story

In 2022 I drew one of Colorado’s coveted Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep hunting permits. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I knew little to nothing about hunting Bighorn sheep, or the high alpine country they inhabit. Knowing that I was unprepared, I solicited the help of a couple of friends to join me. This is the story of what it took to get there and what happened when we did. Through triumph and loss, I got a better understanding of one of the animals that are one of America’s conservation success stories.

Amazing book and well told story

This book and it's author do an amazing job of relaying the details of processes, logistics, skills and a little luck that sheep hunting involves, along with a story of adventure. As someone with very little prior knowledge of these topics I thoroughly enjoyed all that this book had to offer and believe that even the most novice hunter or outdoorsman to the experienced sheep hunter can all take away some knowledge and enjoyment from this read.

Amazing description. Makes you feel like you were a part of the hunt.

This author is an amazing storyteller of a once in a lifetime incredible hunt. The way this is written makes you feel like you are there on the hunt with him going through the entire experience with the full range of emotions. This is a must read for anyone. Interested in big game hunting.

Very well written

Such a fantastic story, I really connected with the story because I have done firefighting and jiu jitsu, and now I'm getting into my hunting journey just like the author. The narrator was easy to understand and wasn't too expressive or monotone. Congrats on the sheep

Dwight tells a story of hunting that both engages as a story and shows the hunting experience in a way that someone with no knowledge of hunting will feel like they’re learning and experiencing a hunt with the author. It’s short, with no fat and great detail.
