Students and journalists, farmers and birdwatchers, ex-wives, adolescent lovers, and dancing girls. All are ordinary people. Or are they?

In this splendid collection of short stories, Margaret Atwood maps the human motivation we scarcely know we have in a startlingly original voice, full of a rare intensity and exceptional intelligence. With brilliant flashes of fantasy, humor, and unexpected violence, these stories reveal the complexities of human relationships and bring to life characters that evoke laughter, compassion, terror, and recognition.

I love Margaret Atwood and Laurel Lefkow did a great job, but these were a little too realistic for my liking. Surely there are some happy women somewhere who are not nuts.

Pretty pessimistic

I enjoyed all of these stories. Historical and Scientific Fiction these all keep my interest. The author describes people who are believable.

Wonderful Personal Stories

Not uplifting but interesting. The book portrays women in different circumstances. They are not all positive experiences but reflect life from different points of view. Fiction yes, but fiction with a true insight of reality. I loved the book.

This is a great listen
