In this fourth installment of the Shepherds Series, good and evil collide in a battle that has raged for thousands of years, and Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson and his team are at the tip of the spear—fighting for humanity’s future and the ones they love.

Victor is dead. But out of the chaos, a new dark power rises …

Only weeks ago, former Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson, head of Joshua Bravo team at the Shepherds, helped to defeat Victor, the leader of the devil’s Dark Ones. Now, his boss, Ben Morvant, has tasked him with an even harder mission: Take a vacation.

But before Jed has even managed to hit the beach in the Dominican Republic, he comes face-to-face with a new evil: Orphans are being abducted right off the streets of Santo Domingo. Are these disappearances just an unfortunate crime in an unfamiliar country, or do they hint at something bigger—a new threat emerging out of the power vacuum Victor left behind?

When Jed needs help after a violent encounter, he finds himself with an unexpected new ally: CIA liaison Gayle James. Together, the two of them must follow the trail of the missing orphans before it runs cold. Soon they find themselves immersed in a dangerous world of murder, betrayal, and voodoo. Jed will need Gayle, the Watchers Sarah Beth and Corbin, his old friend Ben Morvant, and the entire team of Shepherds at his side to expose the new threat—and to prevent a new dark power from rising …

Every book by these 2 authors that I have listened to are fantastic! The Shepherds series has been my favorite.

A&W know how to write action and suspense to keep a reader glued to the story. Even though I'm more into special op thrillers and not paranormal or religious stories, these two writers successfully blend all 3 genres into this series.

The title is perfect for this story. The "dark" characters are well written, and their evilness comes through in MacLeod's narration. Both Ben and David seem to struggle in this book but in somewhat different ways. Ben seems tired and not in the game and David continues to struggle with his jealousy. I still find Rachel somewhat weak as a character, and I don't think she adds much to the story in her current team role.

Overall, 4.5 stars but I rounded up because I couldn't put it down and it was well narrated. 5+ stars for MacLeod Andrews. This may be my favorite book in this series so far. I'm looking forward to book 5 and hoping there is more about Ben's son.

Can't Wait For Book 5

Top tier authors, superb series, looking forward to more. This was another excellent work from Andrews & Wilson, and while I read/listen to everything they write, I burn through the Shepherds entirely too fast.

Great story!

I loved this series. Great reads and the narrator’s voice is phenomenal. I would recommend every book in the shepherds series.

So well done

I love the expansion of the world of The Shepherds and Dark Ones, particularly getting to see more of the inner workings of the enemies. However, the best part is returning to the characters and seeing Jed move toward personal happiness.

Jed and The Shepherds are back with a vengeance!
