Loved it

Fast paced, engaging, well executed first novel in this series. It grabbed me from the very beginning.

Exciting story with good battle scenes. Good narration. The story kept ia good pace with good characters

Good but generic

decent story but nothing unusual. Pretty generic. I felt like I've read it all before.

Straightforward Action Based Science Fiction

Fun book. Military Space based Science Fiction. Published in 2006 it now seems a nice throwback. No forced plot twists, none of the current politics that many excellent writers feel they need or just can’t help inject into current Fantasy or Science Fiction.
That itself adds and extra star for me.

Tried it on a whim, Very Good.

I thoroughly enjoyed the "Dragons of Dorcastle" series, so I decided to give this one a try. The story line, characters and situations are different enough to not be repetitive from other Sci-Fi stories but still simple enough to have playing in the background. I prefer books over music while doing activities and this was perfect for that. The one aspect that I really enjoyed was how he related his Naval experience to the space combat and dealing with subordinates when in a leadership role.
