The festival was an immediate success and has become the largest and most prestigious book festival in the country, attracting more than 130,000 book lovers each year.

David L. Ulin is book editor of the Los Angeles Times. He is the author of The Myth of Solid Ground: Earthquakes, Prediction, and the Fault Line Between Reason and Faith and he is the editor of Another City: Writing from Los Angeles and Writing Los Angeles: A Literary Anthology.

Dave Cullen is the author of Columbine, a portrait of the killers, the victims and the community that suffered one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century. He is considered a leading authority on the Columbine shooting.
