Greg Thames was one of those “larger-than-life but down-home, common man” characters that doesn’t come along very often in life. I was blessed and honored in that I got to see him up close and personal because he was my older brother. Greg lived a challenging life, but it was a life where he never quit fighting the odds that many times were stacked against him. When you would ask him how he was doing he would say “Day by Day”. That became his philosophy of life, to live today, enjoy today, and deal with tomorrow when it came. This book is a little different in that Greg wrote the first chapter, but before he could write more, he made that fateful trip to the oral surgeon to have a tooth extracted. I have filled in where I could, with some keen observations by others who were close to him. Hopefully, you get a picture of a never say die man who loved and was loved. This story is not a birth to death story, but tries to capture the lifechanging events that made him the hero to all of us that he was. So read his story and be inspired. Understand that by living “Day by Day” as he did, and trusting in God as he did, that you, too, can overcome the challenges that you face.
