For anyone already aware of the threat, it’s too much information and too little action. It spends a lot of time dealing with the problem of convincing doubters. It’s a valuable book for getting someone to start preparing, but spends too much time on internal dialogue and arguing with stubborn people. Too much tension and too little progress. Don’t think I can stay with it.

The story is a vehicle for information about how to survive a CME.

This genre is always hit or miss but the CME angle was interesting. I always enjoy having/hearing the build-up prior to the actual event. And the information from those trying to enlighten the main characters made me think same as the characters. I learned a few things and was kinda inspired to research morez I even relocated my old weather radio. There were several “Oh, come on!” moments with the main guy and his family. I literally said it aloud… many times. I didn’t find Jim whiny as some said, just clueless. The often soft spoken tone of the narrator’s voice did lend a bit to that but I think his friend, Lee said it best. The guy is “soft” and unprepared. But darn lucky to have a neighbor patient enough to hang around, stick with trying to change his mind and even leave him so much help, like he did. I found the antagonist storyline annoying. A junky, how original. Points for writing a book, though! And hey, had they not made “dumb” choices it would have been way shorter… Im usually listening to these mainly to pass the drive to work… so it was worth a listen to me.

I liked it.

Loved it. Characters are a little dumb at times but I guess that’s to make things more realistic. Other then that good read ready for book two.

Good!!
