Beloved New York Times bestseller M. C. Beaton’s cranky, crafty Agatha Raisin—the star of her own hit T.V. series—is back on the case again.

A visit to the local village fete for a spot of fun and relaxation turns into a nightmare for Agatha Raisin when she discovers the body of the local landowner in the woods with an arrow in his chest and trousers round his ankles.

Agatha’s old adversary, Detective Chief Inspector Wilkes, declares the death a tragic accident, believing the victim has been hit by a stray arrow from an archery demonstration. Agatha is convinced of foul play, however, and is shocked when Wilkes eventually agrees … with her as his prime murder suspect.

Determined to clear her name and find the real killer, Agatha launches her own investigation, quickly becoming involved with a family at war, an unscrupulous gangster, and a killer who is determined to make her the next victim …

This Agatha is so much better. The story was a bit light and meandering, yet I enjoyed it nonetheless. So glad R.W. Green has taken the torch for this series. Let Agatha be immortal! He’s got a great touch. And as always Penelope Keith is incredible.

Love this Agatha!

I love Agatha!! Can’t wait for the next book—must keep Penelope, she’s the best. I would like more of Bill…totally miss the sleuthing combo of her and Charles(please bury the hatchet, it was a misunderstanding that never got resolved—I hate that), and even James! They were always showing in perfect time to rescue Agatha!!What happened to Phil and the first office secretary?? Keep Roy and the vicar’s wife—miss their long conversations over sherry😉

Love Agatha…and Penelope Keith!!

I very much enjoyed this book. My only criticism is I felt like Agatha is getting a bit meaner. I will go back and reread previous books to see if I feel this is correct.

I love these books so much. M C Beaton created characters and a community that work so well together. And good for R W Green settling the James situation at last!

Agatha lives on!
