Mason Hill is a young man on the run, after justly killing the town's crooked Sheriff. He is forced to embark on an epic adventure across the western frontier, all the while pursued by U.S. Marshals, and even worse, two legendary Bounty Hunters, Dale Thorpe and Guthrie Wildman. For Thorpe and Wildman, bringing Mason in dead is a far easier prospect than bringing him in alive, and they will stop at nothing to kill Mason or anyone else who stands in their way.

Driven to the deserts of Southern California, Mason meets ranch owner Jack McGregor and his Kumeyaay wife Klya. Their bond is instant, and Mason is offered the chance of a lifetime, a life free from constant running, and the opportunity to begin anew.

Soon after accepting the offer, Mason is adopted into the Kumeyaay tribe, where he finds himself and the love of his life. But death is coming, and when it arrives, what happens next will forever change his life and the lives of those around him.
