Death Whispered

The Wilson Homestead had been in the family for a hundred years, the house used as a family residence until recently. For several years the old house welcomed the entire Wilson clan for summer vacations or holidays. But now, Carlton Wilson stood on the driveway covered with buckets and other objects left behind by the firemen, everything twisted into strange shapes from the heat of the fire.

Instead of seeing the pristine forest cared for by three generations of the Wilsons, grey smoldering branches and trunks continued to stand as if refusing to bend to the flames. But now, the trees in the pristine forest sang their death song, the sound invading Carlton’s spirit until he trembled so badly he couldn’t fold his hands together.

Rumor was that the fire had been set, an attempt to force the Wilsons to sale. A local real estate agent was in touch with the various family members telling them he had a good offer for the Wilson homestead, splitting the family into two groups---those who wanted to sell, and those who refused.

Carlton was caught in the middle. But who are the people wanting to purchase the homestead. What for? With the help of the local community Carlton begins searching for answers.
