Riveting!

I really liked how Nick Kyme properly conveyed how harrowing the Salamanders' pilgrimage was. Had me on the edge of my seat.

Great salamanders book

Great telling oh Vulcans story during the heresy for any Salamanders out there. Grim Dark

Vulkan Lives! And yet…

Wonderful journey by the Salamander skeleton crew to revive what was left of their legion and legacy.

Great narrator, so so story

I love the Salamanders and all of their lore and their faith in Vulkan is one of my favorite aspects of 40K, but if I hear Vulkan lived one more time and how much the main character believes he will come back again I may not read another HH novel again. Over all the story is good but some of the story is quite repetitive. The book could have been shorter with a bigger impact if that had been minimized.

Sad and slow

I understand folks' dislike for this title from a certain perspective. I happened to really enjoy it. I think Kyme handled the grief of the transhumans in the face of the still spreading heresy/civil war with a defr hand. I had to laugh every time they said. "Vulkan lives!," but the truth is, the refrain was poignant and became a cry of grief as much as it was one of defiance in the face of overwhelming odds. It was not the best Horus Heresy novel, and only touched on the Imperium secundus, but I enjoyed it overall as a tertiary addition to the overall lore.
