The Spec Ops Squad is a team of elite soldiers from every alien race in the Alliance of Light. They’re supposed to be the best of the best, handling all the toughest missions - but these elite soldiers don’t have a whole lot in common. It’s fallen to Sergeant Bart "Dragon" Dark to forge them into a seamless fighting machine. It hasn’t been easy, but they’ve accomplished some big things: They scored a major victory over the Ilion Federation, and importantly, they proved that they can function as a team.

Now the First Combined Regiment are back on Earth, recovering from their first mission together, trying to unlearn some of the bad habits they picked up. But before they get much down time, they’ve got to go on the offensive: They’re going deep into enemy territory to take and hold the key world of Olviat. If they fail in this deep strike, it’s not just this mission that falls apart - it could be the entire Alliance.

I had read and reviewed the first book, but forgot how mediocre it was when I bought this one. Three hours in and all they've done is train, get new uniforms (complications due to the tails and tail stubs of some of the species) go on a date or two with Krissy, and agonize over whether she wants to get married, and then finally, finally they are on the ship to fight somewhere.

The narration is mediocre too. His best voices are the aliens. His Earthly accents give out after a few lines.

My money is better spent elsewhere so I am returning this one.

sooooo boring
