In this intimate story of relationship resilience, marine biologist Beth Mathews’s adventurous life as a professor and mother in Alaska is upended when her healthy husband is slammed by a rare type of stroke. Jim’s radical approach to recovery clashes with Beth’s instinct to keep him safe at home and sets them on a collision course as he insists on ambitious sailing expeditions with Beth and their young son in Alaska’s magnificent yet unforgiving waters.

Writers know that every captivating story must have a hero/shero and a villan. Yet here in this culture of violence, where every stories villan eventually resorts to violence, our shero has the supreme intelligence and wisdom to recognize that the enemy is actually within herself and nothing more. In her life, monumental challenges test her, again and again and again. This is a tale of wifehood and motherhood like no other. If you consider yourself a person struggling with challenges, imurse yourself in Deep Waters for rejuvenation and inspiration. You may even find yourself able to create fresh ways to approach your own challenges. May you learn and enjoy this unique read as much as I did.
