Jaime long ago gave up the desire to be loved. Now she only needs to be heard.

Jaime Nichols went to law school to find the voice she never had as a child, and her determination to protect girls and women in the path of harm drives her in ways both spoken and unspoken. As Jaime, now a criminal defense attorney, prepares to press charges against someone who wronged her long ago, she must face not only her demons but also the unimaginable forces that protect the powerful man who tore her childhood apart.

Chandler Bolton, a retired veteran, is tasked with helping a young victim who must testify in court—and along with his therapy dog, Aslan, he’s up for the task. When he first meets Jaime, all brains, beauty, and brashness, he can’t help but be intrigued. As Chandler works to break through the wall Jaime has built around herself, the two of them discover that they may have more to offer one another than they ever could have guessed—and that together, they may be able to help this endangered child.

This thrilling installment of the Hidden Justice series explores the healing power of resolution and the weight of words given voice. And as Jaime pursues delayed justice of her own, she unearths eternal truths that will change the course of her life.

Critic reviews

'Narrator Siiri Scott's deep, eloquent voice is an ideal match for Jamie Nichols, a solitary defense attorney who is fighting to bring the uncle who abused her as a child to justice. Jamie has a team of smart and powerful women by her side, including her temporary roommate, Caroline, whose conviction and faith are amplified by Scott's gusty Southern drawl. The narration moves at a measured pace as Jamie's uncle, a powerful military man, tries to subdue her into silence. Luckily, she finds refuge with Chandler Bolton, a soldier with a passion for counseling. Scott channels the heartrending emotional stress Jamie and Chandler face as they use their experience in law and healing to help a little girl take the stand against her own abuser.'

This is a difficult subject that Cara Putman does a good job telling. Unfortunately the reader was hard to listen to with a stilted robotic voice. I think this is better read instead of listening to.

In book three of this series, Jamie finds herself with a new work path. As she has finally decided to step up to a wrong in her past, she finds herself with more backlash and peril than expected. She also finds herself in a new role as she helps out a young child and works with a neighbor and his therapy dog in helping the child.

I really liked seeing Jamie work through all that was going on and learning how to do what is best for others even when it doesn't work out the best for her.

Cara Putman took on a topic most prefer to leave buried and gave it the justice it deserves. Jaimie’s deep wounds from the abuse she suffered as an 8 year old have put her adult life in a rocky place. She sees herself as alone and imperfect-so flawed no one will want to be near her if they learn the truth. Even among her closest friends she can’t fully engage in their camaraderie. She just can’t trust them to be there when she needs them since no one stood up for her when she was young and needed someone. Helping others and the desire to right wrongs and give others the voice she didn’t have, show the woman Jaimie has become. When she takes steps to bring her attacker to justice, she finds out just who she has become and sees the person her friends have known her as all along. Throw in a hunky military man with the same desire to help others as her and you have the pieces for the intricately crafted story that is Delayed Justice.

Heartfelt story about a heartbreaking, but all too common, crime

Getting to know Jaime three this book was great! Seeing how Hayden and Emily had moved past their struggles was a nice tie in. The suspense in this story had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

Thered was too much time spent with n the feelings of each character. There was very little mystery or action.

Too fluffy
