“A hilarious, laugh-out-loud, thoroughly entertaining story.”—Helena Hunting, New York Times bestselling author

She has one day to break all the rules. Delia Reese takes the financial world by storm in this breakout novel that’s Freaky Friday meets She’s the Man.

Just once, Delia Reese wants to be the one calling the shots—not the one waiting to be called. Despite her stellar resume, hiring managers at the big banks won’t give her a chance.

Following yet another failed interview, Delia commiserates with her roommates and drunkenly finds herself wishing she had the advantages that come with being a man. If society wasn't locked into gender roles, she'd be climbing the corporate ladder in designer heels with no apologies. By morning, her mirror reflects a surprising makeover.

Now that the world sees her as a man, Delia’s determined to double down on society’s double standards. With a smart suit and powerfully pink necktie, she hits New York's financial district with a big gamble in mind.

Honestly as someone who reads almost exclusively nonfiction I had every thought I wouldn't make it past chapter 1. The book is set in Manhattan and it's about female empowerment so as a New Yorker I was ready for a white feminism power story filled with "Big Apple" references laced with a "You Go Girl!" motif. It actually turned out to be really funny and while, yes it is a women's empowerment story, encorporates romance, friendship, and very realistic struggles of today for women in Finance. The story isn't full blown romance or a self help book but outlines a very easy screenplay for a rom-com you might have already seen; think "How to Be Single" mixed with "What Men Want". There's also no gratuitous uncomfortable smut which I personally liked but lots of "male anatomy" jokes which added a realistic levity. Narrator was also amazing to listen to and surprisingly her man voice wasn't awful to listen to!

TL;DR not your average romance book and definitely worth the read (even if romance isn't your thing)

This book was crass, immature and poorly written. Upset I wasted my money and my time.

Honestly, I couldn't get into this book at all. I've been a woman in corporate America for over 20 years and dealt with sexism for most of it but I've never used it as an excuse as to why I didn't get a job or a promotion or anything else. Instead, I used it for fuel to work harder for what I wanted. Delia sounds like a self important, blame everyone but herself, brat. Waste of a credit.

Delia should remove the chip on her shoulder

I absolutely loved it from beginning to end. It explored female empowerment and how difficult it is for a woman to be seen in men’s jungle aka workplace. It not only tackled real topics, but had epic humor in it too. I laughed my butt off and loved everything about it, especially coming from a storyteller myself. I highly recommend it!

LOVED IT!!!
